Below is our new mission statement, developed by a subcommittee of the steering committee.

The Association for Feminist Epistemologies, Methodologies, Metaphysics, and Science Studies (FEMMSS) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting feminist work in epistemology, the study of methodology, metaphysics, and science and technology studies. FEMMSS has a strong commitment to work that crosses boundaries among disciplines and between the academy and the public. FEMMSS also affirms the importance of work that brings the methodologies of the humanities and the sciences to bear upon one another. Through conferences, projects, and publications we provide a forum where feminist theorists, social scientists, life scientists, and physical scientists can engage each other and develop research and pedagogical skills that not only influence our fields, but reach beyond academic work into the public sphere.
FEMMSS is committed to supporting emerging scholars, particularly from diverse and underrepresented groups. We are also committed to local and global justice inside and outside of the academy.
